Best way to simplify geometry without an error?

    Is it possible to simplify the following geometry, without an error?

    If it doesn't mess up,

    the worst case scenario is to:

    1.) declassify / break the ifc classification

    2.) Apply the decimate modifier

    3.) Reclassify the object

    I had a go, some how the file is larger hahahah

    You won't be able to use conventional means of automatic retopology because the mesh is non-manifold. Depending on the number of faces you want, and the LOD you're after a simple solution is to go into edit mode, delete the current mesh, add a cylinder and extrude it along the Z axis and make it look like what you're after eg. from 13k tris to 90 tris
