    Is this prompt meant to pop up every time I leave Edit mode?

    If I understand correctly, I think yes. Because you're natively editing the IFC in a Blender context. In theory there is no need to save the .blend file.

    I'm really wondering if I can avoid having to press Enter to confirm each time. I know I want to save the native IFC each time.
