Workflow for consolidating multiple materials with the same name down to just one material?

   Does anyone have a workflow for consolidating multiple materials with the same name, down to just one material?

   No clue at the moment, also have tonnes of files with lots of duplicates

   I would try Optimise recipe first and if it didn't help then tried some scripting.

   The ideal UI would be to be able to select multiple items in the list and press Ctrl -J to merge them
