Does anyone know how to prevent COUUNTER-TOP from coming back every time edit mode is cycled? Would like to remove that material from the object definition.

does a save Ifc make any difference? answered my own question... it makes no difference

Looks like a bug. The only way I was able to "solve" this problem was by removing the material layer from the type.

No, in the panel (image below). Then I saved. After that I reloaded the ifc file and recreate the material set. It seems to work.
