I'm using BlenderBIM for lighting design projects and facing a small challenge. I have created a type object of a lighting fixture that I'm using in the project. Then, at some point, of course, my dear client decides to change the fixture. So, I change the fixtures to another type. I can change the fixtures easily, but my only problem is that I'm using the 'occurrence name style = by type' setting. This helps me in the outliner to have some sense of what the object is, e.g., 'IfcFlowTerminal/ERCO Optec.001'. The problem is that this name does not get updated in the outliner when I change the lighting fixture to another type. Is this a bug, or is it meant to be like this?

I don't think it's a bug, I don't think that functionality exists yet.
Seems like a good feature request, if you'd like to make one here: https://github.com/IfcOpenShell/IfcOpenShell/issues

Okay. Dropped in my first request. I hope I did it the right way.

@Stealthmasterflex well, in the meantime, you could use some code to update names...
it shoudn't be too much difficoult i guess...if you can share the .ifc (or part of it) we can help...

Yes, I made a script worked fine. Thanks to Chat-GPT!
