I created an IFC-Assembly by adding an “empty” and then allocating an IFC-Group property to the empty, in the empty I create an Aggregates – IFCAssebly-x then select element instances and add the as aggregates to the empty. This process worked but the one Group as screen shots attached does not, what I am doing wrong.

Assemblies/Aggregates are different animals compared to Groups in ifc.

In the “Outliner”, when I change the “IfcElementAssembly/Assembly” name to “IfcElementAssembly/New” it does change but when I save the IFC file and open it again it reverts back to the original “IfcElementAssembly/Assembly”, what am I doing wrong?
Could you maybe show a video regarding IfcGrouping? Thanks for your effort.
I don't know if this can be useful, there was been a discussion about the use of group inside ifc and the problem associated to the use of a non hierarchical entity like ifc group. It seems that is better to not mix hierarchical and not hierarchical entities inside a project.

Did you select the aggregate empty when you tried to change the name?
It looks like you already did some ifcgroups already, but here's the different UI areas to do it...

I did not do it this way, will do it like this from now on, I just clicked on the heading name.
