Proposal for three OSArch meetups!

    G'day! From this discussion I thought it would be a great idea to organise three virtual OSArch meetups :)

    1) A show and tell hosted by @yorik , showcasing the incredible work done on FreeCAD 1.0, and the current state of the Native IFC workbench

    2) A show and tell hosted by @Moult , showcasing how the underlying technologies interact in Bonsai with IfcOpenShell, Blender, OpenCASCADE, etc and some of the more recent developments in Bonsai. In particular to discuss how we can continue to have cross-pollination between the Blender and FreeCAD UIs that share IfcOpenShell and OCC under the hood.

    3) A technical exploration by @aothms explaining some of the ideas being proposed by IFC5, why they are proposed, and possible technical opportunities and challenges.

    Thoughts on timing and dates?

    Excellent! A lot has happened recently that makes Bonsai and FreeCAD converge. We're well under way to use IFC files as project files in FreeCAD, and there is I think not much needed to really be able to work on them productively with both apps.

    What about one of those:

    • 13h/14h central EU, 21/22h australia, 6h/7h central US

    • 22/23h EU, 6/7h australia, 15/16h US

    • 6h EU, 14h australia, 23h US

    Weekend is best for me, but during the week would work too

    I look forward to a newsletter with some more details, date & time! It'll be great to catch up on what's been happening.

    Given that most attendees are from EU, followed by US, then by Aus, I think option 1 or 2 is the most logical. Maybe option 1 given how convenient it is for EU folks.

    I'm fine with any of them. Anyone else has a preference to help decide? Also: weekday or weekend?

    That would be brilliant. I am in between aus and us, so either or doesn't matter to me.

    Options 1 or 2 are fine by me. I prefer on weekday but I could attend on weekend as well.

    If it's option 1, I assume a weekend would be better as it's more flexible for more EU folks to join. I'm not too fused. @yorik how about you pick your favourite day and option 1/2 and we'll turn up :)

    Sorry about the lack of response here guys, I'm a bit overwhelmed with stuff :/

    Up to FOSDEM (1st-2nd february) I'll hardly have any time, after that I'm free again!

    Our baby (real baby ;) I can't help copying what @Moult does) will be born soon, so I will probably be out of this world for the few next weeks. But we still definitely need to do this!!

    I would be very interested in virtual meet-up topic #2 and could add a little on infra/alignments.
