Handling Base Drawings in IFC Projects and Scaling Issues in BlenderBIM

    Hi everyone,

I’m working with floor plans and section drawings for existing buildings, which I’ve successfully scaled in Blender. However, I found it odd that Blender doesn’t allow direct scaling by entering numerical values, but I managed to get it to work—more or less.

Now, I’m facing a new issue:

Even after setting these images to the IFC type “Annotation,” they disappear when I save the project. To avoid losing them, I need to save the entire Blender project. This raises a couple of questions:

    1. How should I properly store these reference drawings (images) in BlenderBIM to ensure they remain part of the IFC project? I want to use them for tracing but still maintain the integrity of the IFC data.

    2. Why doesn’t Blender allow for a more direct scaling method, like in Fusion 360? For instance, it would be ideal if we could measure a known length in the image, input the real-world dimension, and have Blender automatically scale the image accordingly. This would greatly improve accuracy when working with base drawings.

Any tips on managing these images within an IFC workflow or insights into potential improvements in BlenderBIM’s scaling functionality would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!
