Any fellow architects want to take the lead on an OpeningDesign project?

  1. T

Is there a fellow architect here, that would like to take the design lead on the architectural scope for a project we just commissioned?

Currently I don't have the time, as I'd like to prioritize finishing these tutorials, since I've invested so much time on them already.
Ideally, it would be nice to work with a fellow architect that is quite seasoned, and can run with the job.

Obviously we'll do it in Bonsai, and out in the open, here.

It would nice if you know you're way around Bonsai, but don't necessarily have to be an expert. I will be your IT help. :)
The project is a ~5000sf car dealership in Wisconsin.
The project will be a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB). So it would be awesome if you have some experience with this type of project. As you might know, with PEMB, the engineering of the structure is done by the 3rd party manufacture. We, however, will are commissioned to do the structural design of the foundation and mezzanine.
For the structural scope (that is, not the architecture scope) I would like to work with @Jesusbill or @Luis, since i've worked with them in the past. Hi guys--any interest? :)
Here's the proposal we signed with them. The fees are mid to low range for a project like this Wisconsin. Obviously we all have to stay within these numbers.
Per usual, the schedule is now. :)

If any interest, please ping me on the matrix. :)

THX @theoryshaw for sharing, the proposal Is a really inspiring reading.

If I had some free time I would have liked to help you.

Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now, but I'd like to state for anyone interested that working with @theoryshaw is an awesome opportunity. It's also a great way to improve your Bonsai skills. Let me know if I can help with anything code related.

    Hi,

As I'm not an architect this isn't for me, but I quickly tried to check one of your tutorials.

It seems I cannot view them, is this normal?

I hope to make this a paid-for tutorial series (w/ part of the revenue going to Bonsai development), so the videos are currently encrypted.

Ah I understand! As im trying to make tutorials myself i was wondering how you did it ;) but completely understandable!

Hu @jes_r, thanks for the interest. I hope to make this a paid-for tutorial series (w/ part of the revenue going to Bonsai development), so the videos are currently encrypted.

@carlopav come on and take it, spread the italian architect words to US! :-)

Hey @theoryshaw , this tutorial series is looks really comprehensive!

If you would be alright with me for this job, I would be keen to take this on/be a part of it!

I've worked on a PEMB building before here in South Africa, but not as the lead.

  1. T

Thanks @Ace! would LOVE to work with you, but @tlang is helping with the project.

BTW, I was meaning to make an announcement, but would like to share the tutorials for free with any OSArch members that have 500 points or more. (Here's a way to figure how many points you have.)

If you, or anyone here is interested, you can try the following steps to unlock the videos...

    • Installing git.

    • Go here to create a GPG key (will need this to unlock the videos). And then private message me, here, with your public key. Let me know your preferred username, and email as well. Will create an account on https://hub.openingdesign.com/.

    • Install https://gitnuro.com/, if you don't have a preferred git client--of which there are many. (Gitnuro is a user-friendly, cross platform git client, and something i can help you with)

    • After I add your public key to the repo, you can unlock the repo this way.

    ...

As I mentioned before, it would be awesome to get others to add to these tutorials as well, and get fair contribution for their efforts. What's fair, I don't know, but i bet we can hack something together... i have some ideas.

And of course, a certain percentage (i'm thinking 20%) of the revenue will go to Bonsai development.

No Stress, and Brilliant on the tutorials!

Aw geez, let me just acknowledge that I'm glad to finally get a chance to work with @theoryshaw!
