For our 1st monthly meetup of 2021, Antonio González Viegas @agviegas will give the keynote presentation on IFC.js, a library that converts any browser into an IFC viewer, parsing IFC entities to WebGL geometry through THREE.js.

Disclaimer: Each meetup will be recorded and published publicly online under a Creative Commons CC BY-SA 2.0 license to help share everything we learn and discuss with the public. If you are uncomfortable with your presence being recorded and published publicly online, you can turn off your microphone and webcam using the buttons at the middle bottom of your screen. You can still participate by typing into the chat window which can be found on the bottom left. If you want, you can also change your display name to an alias using the menu button on the bottom right, and then clicking your name at the top of the menu that appears. You will be given the option to rename your display name. Alternatively, you are free to not join the meetup, and watch the recording online later, which will be uploaded to a public Peertube channel and Youtube channel.
At the start of each meeting, we will reiterate the public nature of these meetings to allow for any privacy concerns, and give time for users to anonymize themselves as necessary, and then start the recording and begin the meeting.

I noticed this event is not yet in the event calendar on the homepage.
Maybe an idea to post this and the upcoming meetups there?

@JanF @paullee @LaurensJN yes there was a problem with the recording. Antonio has said he's willing to do it again, so we're just finding some dates. We're also looking at home to make a backup recording in the future or maybe switch to bigbluebutton to try a different libre software video/conference system. We'll post more info once we have a date, and then that video will be uploaded.

I was thinking a screengrab of the demos would be ok, I can overlay it, the audio was more important anyway

@duncan @JanF Thanks for the hard works, it's a pity that the recording went wrong. If doing it take too much of time, may a pointer to available resources may helps :)

Because the recording didn't work out Antonio has agreed to give the presentation again
Presentation on IFC.js with developer Antonio González Viegas
Where: online at https://bigbluebutton.webhostingzone.org/b/dun-gxe-gyz-anq
When: Saturday 23rd January, 21:00 CET, https://everytimezone.com/s/a3c22a96
IFC.js is a free/libre library for generating geometry from [[Industry Foundation Classes (IFC)|IFC data] with customizable aspect, including color, transparencies, edges and more. Because IFC.js is browser based and 100% Javascript and runs on the client side, not depending on servers, it is very lightweight. You can use this as an efficient IFC parser or as a whole IFC viewer to build your BIM app.
