Hi Guys
I started a wiki article to describe the working IFC and DWG.
Feel free to respond.
Although DWG software is not 'free and open' i consider the DWG format an established and respected platform in with enough parties active to make it a 'democratic' place. I will be investigating some more with the focus on IFC coming from the relative young Chinees developers at Gstarsoft. Check this one
Wow! Just Amazing.
How still slow this newest 2021 edition is. But hey, it's IFC4 now right?

@magicalcloud_75 that was painful to watch.
The developers were clearly only testing a single cube when they built this feature.
It takes at least half a day to get a normal size project in. Autodesk should have pland to get ifc4 certification for this product. If i understand correctly from the table Buildingsmart haa for it. Does anybody know if there a demands on processing speeds for certification? I would think that is a logical user demand..
To Answer my own question.. ;-) NO speed is not one of the criteria. I find it hard to believe i would be the only one having trouble.
A list of all that super good software can be found here

@magicalcloud_75 unfortunately the majority of users might not understand OpenBIM, so when they see it takes forever to import they just say "oh, send us a different file format".

@bitacovir - not quite so! The buildingSMART list includes both proprietary and free software implementations - and have over 300 software listed.
But that's OK :)
@Moult i raised my hand and concern about this issue in the certification by bsi.. Did my part. :)
I also think users and not very good organized and don't have a voice in ifc use or the certification. A vendors, sales and developers network. Or am i seeing this all wrong?

@magicalcloud_75 This is the third time bSI mutes me, this time for a month for this:
IFC Sample Files on GitHubPersonally I see a lot of limitations in IFC, so mainly have focused on STEP AP242, and how improve IFC from the best practices from other industries
And for sure these findings will help me in my startups and R&D projects too
I wanted to include a youtube demo on the wiki page about DWG and IFC.
Wiki does not to be supporting this yet. Is it possible to activate this feature on the wiki?
Here is my working with IFC in DWG :) The Lisps are totally open source coding.
Just google them
