This is fantastic @baswein - have you also been looking at the efforts of Cesium integration, and how this relates to that?

Yes it seems like he is moving right along. Having inplemented some textures https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/36981 and directional lignts. https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/pull/37016
I am interested in the export of 3D files that hopefully he will get to.
There is an amazing QGIS plugin: QGIS2threejs https://qgis2threejs.readthedocs.io/en/docs/ that will export a glTF but it doesn't like to maintain a scale.
